The
Fraternity Conference: Organization and Content
Purpose: To
give priests the vision, formation and support to respond with enthusiasm
to the fullness of their priesthood.
What is the Conference:
The Fraternity is a four day “retreat” designed to give information
and an experience of the Fraternity and the style of life it entails.
It begins on Monday noon and ends on Thursday noon. While the basic
schedule is set, it is adaptable depending on the schedule of the retreat.
During the retreat sessions of reconciliation, healing and empowerment
are incorporated. An emphasis is on personalizing, through experience,
the presented material.
Requirements:
1. A group of priests
in a diocese or area who are interested in learning more about the Fraternity
of Priests.
2. All expenses and
travel paid for the Retreat Master.
3. An overnight facility
for all participants.
Organizational Procedures:
1. Interested priests
(including Religious) should meet together and pray for the Lord’s direction.
2. Select the priest
who would be most capable of organizing a Fraternity Conference.
3. Make a list of possible
candidates in your area. Divide this list among those present at the
meeting. Approach these men personally and explain the Fraternity to
them. Give them a copy of the Fraternity brochure (available from the
Fraternity of Priests office).
4. Invite your contacts
to a meeting where you would discuss the Fraternity. Ask for commitments
to a 4 day Fraternity Conference and consider possible dates.
5. Notify and receive
your Bishop’s permission to have a Fraternity Conference in the Diocese.
6. Contact the Fraternity
Office by mail, email or phone. Send the following information:
A. Name, address and
phone number of priest coordinator
B. Names, addresses
and phone numbers of priests interested in conference.
C. verbal assurance that your Bishop was notified
and gave his permission for such a conference.
D. Alist of possible
dates for the conference.
E. Name of the nearest
airport.
F. Suggested means
of handling expenses.
