Reasons
to Consider Establishing or Joining The Fraternity of Priests:
We
believe that we are living at a privileged time when God is pouring
out His Spirit, as of a New Pentecost, as Pope John XXIII prayed for
at the Second Vatican Council. The Lord is doing this to establish His
reign, the Kingdom of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Our
mission is primarily to priests. We do not offer a program but relationships.
Seeing and hearing what God is doing in our time, we want to be a part
of it. Our mission is to respond in a complete a way as possible to
God’s visitation in our time.
As
priests we are called to come out of the world, its mind-set, values
and lifestyle and establish and deepen a new relationship with Jesus
Christ. We are calling priests to a committed relationship with one
another and to unity of mind and heart. By consecration to Mary, Mother
of all priests, we can stand together.
We
need to be clear about the priorities of our lives. Our first priority
is our relationship with God, then our brother priests and then our
ministry. By living out these priorities we more clearly show more clearly
what is of value in our lives and ministry.
The
Fraternity of Priests aims to live a committed brotherhood in order
to support and protect each other, not only in our ministry to God’s
people, but especially in our personal priestly lives. If we, as priests,
are “to celebrate the mysteries of Christ faithfully and religiously
as the Church has given them to us for the glory of God and sanctification
of God’s people”, we must first be holy priests. The Fraternity Call
to Holiness is a call to respond to and use the graces of ordination.
Only with the “help of the Holy Spirit” can we do this. We want to be
as fully open to the working of the Holy Spirit in the Church and in
our personal lives as possible. Whatever gifts the Holy Spirit chooses
to give us, we need to be open to receive and use for the good of Church
and our personal growth in holiness.
We
believe priests are called to lead the Church in striving for holiness.
Only empowered by the Holy Spirit, in union with the Pope and Bishops
and supported by our brother priests is this possible. This is God’s
evident plan for priesthood in our time. We want to respond as fully
as we can.
