2024 Fraternity of Priests Annual Meeting

One of the highlights of the year is our Annual Conference of the International Fraternity of Priests. I’m writing to encourage you to attend the 2024 Conference! Our hosts this year will be the brothers of the New Jersey Fraternity. The event will take place from Sunday evening, August 4, through Friday morning, August 9. Our presenter this year will be Deacon Joseph Cooley. Deacon Joe is Director of the Encounter School of Ministry: Boston Campus. He is also deeply involved with the Unbound Deliverance and Marriage Ministries. He and his bride, Ceci, are transplants to New England from the Midwest. He was ordained to the permanent diaconate in 2016 and will be sharing with us on Monday and Tuesday on how the Holy Spirit is working in the world and the Church with a special focus on Encounter Ministries. The registration cost is $430, which includes the conference, lodging, and meals. Additional funds may be required for Brotherhood Day. Financial assistance of $250 is available to offset the cost of the event. Please contact me directly by email at JKiley70@bostonclergy.org if you would like to take advantage of this.

Travel reimbursement of up to $600.00 (up to $2000.00 for international representatives) is also available. Please alert us beforehand on the registration form that you will be requesting reimbursement.  We will accept your reimbursement request – along with receipts of your paid travel expenses – at the conference. A check will be mailed to you after the event.

Please plan to arrive at the retreat house the afternoon or evening of Sunday, August 4. If you are flying, arrange your flights to the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Please include your travel information on the registration form – as the brothers from New Jersey will arrange for transportation from the airport to Loyola Jesuit Center. Transportation to the airport at the end of the conference will also be arranged.

This year we need to know as soon as possible from those of you who plan to attend. We have reserved 20 to 25 rooms at the Jesuit Center. If we have fewer in attendance and have not reduced the number of rooms by the beginning of May, we will have to pay $430.00 for each of the unused rooms! I know that there are always some last-minute emergencies that can prevent attendance. However, please send me an e-mail at JKiley70@bostonclergy.org by April 28 if you plan to be present. This will enable us to book some additional rooms, if available, or to reduce the number. This is very important. You can register for this conference by filling out and mailing the enclosed registration form, or by visiting the Fraternity of Priests website, www.fraternityofpriests.org where you can register and pay online. Provided that you have informed me by April 28 that you plan to attend, the completed registration must be received by May 31.

As usual we will cover some business at the meeting, particularly the election of board members. Two of our board will be completing their first term. Prayerfully consider serving on the board and/or surface the name of a brother willing to serve. We will also be nominating a brother for the Annual Brotherhood Award. Please indicate this name on your registration form. Even if you are not attending the conference, you may nominate a brother for this award.
